Wind Foil Boards

  • An ideal all-round foil board width is 85 to 91cm with volume of 130 to 150L – width and flotation provide stability for uphauling the sail
  • During stronger and more consistent monsoonal winds, smaller boards 70 – 80cm wide and 120L or less in volume are more manoeuvrable in the waves and allow riders to use smaller sails. Some dedicated boards can be used for both wind foiling and wing foiling
  • For Darwin’s overall conditions, heavier sailors (85kg+) should always go for larger volume boards as there is little downside. Once you’re up on the foil the board size feels pretty much irrelevant
