- moist winds are denser and more powerful than Dry Season winds
- water state is dominated by wind blown chop and can get hectic
- clean water conditions occasionally develop if local weather systems produce offshore or very light wind
- cyclones in WA’s Kimberley region or further out in the Indian Ocean send increased wave energy to Darwin
